Great Little Master -To be admired and also to be followed

For the last two weeks Indian Television channels are flooded with news related to ICC world cup 2011.The final  match is to be played between India and Sri Lanka on 2nd April 2011  and the entire country is praying for the Indian team. There is another excitement in addition to the world cup trophy and that is anticipated 100th century of great little master ,Sachin Tendulkar. Our honourable President and the president of Srilanka shall witness the match. The people of the country are praying for the world cup but they are equally worried and concerned for Sachin`s achievement. In some cases the people have been talking that at the first place they would like him to score 100 runs in the final and of course India should also win. When you talk to the people it is observed that little master has become synonymous to the motherland. When it was read first time that he is considered the God of cricket, it appeared to be little odd, but now considering the range of his achievements it seems to be perfect. He is not praised  only in India  but all over the world. He is the role model (there are not many today)for the youth of the country and people almost worship him. But in this euphoria it should not be forgotten that Sachin is also a human being like any other person on this planet.
A discussion was telecast on TV channel and among other participants there were some teachers and students from the school where Sachin had studied. They were asked about their experience of the time when he was in the school. The head teacher was asked a question about the qualities of Sachin and what made him different . Her answer was very simple that the kind of discipline and devotion Sachin had that can not be expressed in words. He was one the most disciplined child and absolutely focused to what he was doing. She further added that many children want to become like him but that discipline and commitment lacks in them.
It will be interested to note that Sachin did  not play cricket till the age of 10 or 11 years and he was introduced to his Coach Shri Ramakant Achrekar at the age of 11 years. His coach could see the spark in him and he took Sachin in his group of the children being coached by him. Also interestingly he scored zero in his first two matches but did not loose heart and the coach was of tremendous help to him during that period.
He was sixteen years old only when he was asked to face the best fast bowlers of Pakistan. The first ball he faced was from the legendary fast bowler Waqar Younis who tested the young budding master of the cricket world and he scored four runs on the second ball of that over. If you look at the pictures of those days it is surprising, if not shocking how can such small boy for whom the bat looked heavier than his own weight could face the fastest pace battery of Pakistan.
He is 37 years young today and still going great and there is no retirement for him in the near future.  May  God give him the courage and health that he continues to be the torch bearer for the people of the country not only because of his achievement in the field of cricket but his other qualities.
The little master did not become great by sitting in the drawing rooms and appreciating the efforts and the achievements of the other people. He worked very hard all through and he is doing the same till date. There are many special qualities in Sachin which should be be imbibed by today`s youth. When other cricketers show their desire of earning as much money as possible  the great master is the only one who declined very lucrative offers of different brands which he felt are not for the people of the country specially youth. The other such examples which come in mind are that of great badminton players Gopichand and Prakash Padukone.
Sachin is not only praised for his cricketing achievement  but also the way he has handled the pressure and expectations from him. In his illustrious career of 21 years he has conducted so well and in such a dignified manner that no controversy has ever been associated with him .He has been so down to earth and full of patience that no body could question his humility. His performance on and off the cricket fields has been some thing to be proud of. Despite the fact that he is considered to be the king of cricket he has been so polite as nothing extraordinary has been achieved by him. He still considers himself as the learner. There has been no incidence when Sachin was quoted to be late or absent from the practice session. He has never allowed himself to be dragged into any controversy.
So, the lesson which the young people should learn from his life is that any height can be achieved in the field you venture into but for that you need to be fully committed and disciplined. No body who is shy of hard work be able to be great in any field.Chanting prayers for Sachin will not make any body like him but hard work, devotion, commitment and  a learning spirit will always do that.
We wish all the best to Indian cricket team and Great master Sachin
